As any developer who’s been around the block a few times can tell you, the most effective way to learn is by doing. Sitting in a conference talk is a great way to cover the concepts of a subject, but to really learn about it, you need to dig in and get your hands dirty. No one starts out being immediately familiar with a technology, so others have to learn it from somewhere. I suggest that source be you.
“Me?” you may ask, “I’m not en expert, why would they listen to me?” I’ll let you in on a little secret – no one is an expert. There’s such a vast world of technology knowledge out there that there’s no way one person can know everything about a topic. Your experiences are different than everyone else’s. You are the expert in what you know and there’s only one way to effectively spread that knowledge. Teach.
Teachers aren’t always the ones standing up giving lectures, they’re the ones investing time in sharing their knowledge with those that need it most.
