We work in an industry where the domain knowledge required to function at a high level is so vast and so rapidly changing that a Gladwellian 10,000 hours approach to mastery is not only inefficient, it’s impossible. In fact, the very idea of achieving mastery in our field alone is something of a fool’s errand. The consolation, however, is that we are also part of a community of peers, each with their own unique talents and areas of expertise and nearly universally willing to help others. Whether it’s as a sounding board, a code review, advice, shared learning, instruction with an algorithm or an implementation, or friendly support and encouragement, your peers are your most valuable resource and you, theirs. Leverage the power of peers.
